Introducing Shurbet

Hey! Shurbet here. That's Sure-Bet, not sherbert. Ha ha. Family joke, 'what do you name a horse that always wins?'. You call him 'Shurbet'.

I'm just getting a feel for this whole blogging thing. I'm a personal friend of Marianne and Dave Barker's and they were looking for someone to blog about all their store's cool gear - so here I am! Each week I'll be bringing you my thoughts on all the new stuff Impressions has got. I'm so excited about it that I'm almost speechless. Ok, not speechless. If you learn anything about me, you'll know I'm never speechless. Maybe I should have been called 'NeverStops'. Ha.

I'm gonna talk about my first item so ready, set, go!

Here are the lovely horse planters that Georgetown just came out with. Marianne tells me her customers loved the cats and dogs that Impressions has carried since last summer. But since this is Saratoga Springs, she asked Georgetown specifically to design a horse of course! The planters come in two sizes, large ($44.99) and small($24.99). They're a nice brown color with a brush of black. I'll admit that I was thinking of doing my mane the same way with nice colored tips; this comb-over thing is just not working for me. Beautiful glass eyes gaze at you from a face that everyone will fall in love with. And I tell you, the slightest touch makes them start nodding their heads so if you want someone to endlessly agree with you, just set one of these guys to bobbing. Who could resist?

Summer Nice Days, Summer Rainy

Please join us Thursday evening, July 30th, for a book and poster signing with Greg Montgomery during Downtown Susie Brown's Shopping Night. Mr. Montgomery is the renown artist responsible for the annual Travers and Saratoga posters. These posters are highly collectible and much sought after. His book, The History and Art of 25 Travers, is a wonderful read and includes colorful photos of each poster. We highly recommend this book for a gift! For more information about Shopping Night (and it's a blast!) check out Susie Brown's website: http://downtownsusiebrown.blogspot.com/2009/07/july-30th-shopping-night-to-benefit.html
